Consultations
Consultation appointments of 30-45 minutes are available to discuss your goals and jointly evaluate whether Trailhead Mediation’s services are a good fit for your needs. Consultation is a confidential and privileged mediation communication, with limited exceptions, as provided in Chapter 7.07 RCW.
Please note, no attorney-client relationship is created by consultation or service in a mediation matter.
Fees
Our office is committed to providing reasonable and predictable fees, determined by the type, stage, and complexity of the matter. Trailhead’s standard fee schedule is posted below. However, each matter is unique. A cost estimate for the full-matter in each particular case, based on the complexity and time needed, will be provided following the initial consultation.
Standard Fee Schedule (2-Party Mediation):
BREAKS: To best support effective dialogue and good decision-making, break-time is built into each mediation session (typically 5-10 minutes after every two hours of mediation time). For full-day sessions only a 1hr. lunch break in addition to these shorter breaks applies. These breaks are included in the hours and rate schedule above.
Additional Costs/Fees:
In addition to the fees noted above, the following costs and fees may also apply:
1. Off-session services: In addition to fees for mediation sessions, Trailhead Mediation will bill at the hourly rate (rounded up in 15-minute increments) for standard off-session services, including:
a. Pre-mediation conferences (typically 30 minutes per party).
b. Document review (as requested by parties).
c. Communication and drafting time (meeting notes, draft agreements, etc.).
2. Additional Parties: The rate schedule above is for a 2-party mediation. Trailhead Mediation will charge and additional hourly fee for each additional party at mediation. Please contact Trailhead Mediation directly for a quote in a specific matter.
3. Mediation Meeting Space: Trailhead Mediation conducts most mediations online at no additional cost. In-person availability is determined on a case-by-case basis. While Trailhead Mediation can help parties locate an appropriate in-person space for mediation, the parties are responsible for booking and paying separately for this space.
4. For In-Person Mediations Only: Trailhead Mediation may also bill for parking costs and travel time (outside of the City of Seattle). The hourly rate for travel time is $100.00/hr.
5. Dishonored Payment Charge: Trailhead Mediation will apply a pass-through charge to the responsible party for any fee charged to Trailhead Mediation by that party’s financial institution for a dishonored payment.
6. Rescheduling and Cancellation: A rescheduling fee of $200 will be charged to a party that reschedules within 5 days of a scheduled mediation session. A party that cancels a mediation session less than two (2) business days from the scheduled session is responsible for payment of 50% of the missed scheduled session hours at the stated hourly fee.
